Zwift Autumn League - Round 4 Results

Zwift Round 4 Graphic

Round 4 of the Zwift Autumn League - the last chance to complete six rounds to count towards league standings - and it made for a record turnout! Over 420 riders online last night made for a thrilling race on the rolling course in Watopia.

The long single lap course around the hills and flats of Watopia made for some great opportunities to get into a group, the difficult part is staying there!

While the opportunity to complete the league has now passed for newcomers (there's just five rounds left and the league is six to count), there's still plenty of time to sign up and get going... and to hone those Zwift skills for our next league!

Everything you need to know is in the Zwift Quick Start Guide.

Results

The full results from Race 4 are on the event's ZwiftPower page.

ZwiftPower also has the overall detailed individual and club leaderboards for all cats from A to D.

The Zwift Autumn League is open to riders across the world - this is one of the exciting and unique aspects of Zwift racing! On this page, we filter out the non-Triathlon Ireland members and clubs/teams to give an overview of the community competition in the Zwift Autumn League.

Why Am I Not There?

If you are unsure of how ZwiftPower applies its scoring system, scroll down to the bottom of the page, which is also where you'll need to go if you were one of the 61 riders who were 'filtered' from last night's event. This is a pretty high number of filtered riders - the majority were for HR, the absence of Heart Rate data - this can be fixed people! Connect your HR next week cause we want you in the results sheet!

Analysis
The top three teams remain unchanged in the A League, although Belpark Triathlon have extended their lead at the top thanks to a third place finish from Emmett Dunleavy and solid results from other points scorers Adriele Prina, Shane O'Neill and Luke McMullan. This podium result means Dunleavy has now moved into second on the individual league table.

Lisburn TC also pulled away from the other top 6 placed teams to hold second overall, but it remains all to play for between Eden TC, Watergrasshill TC, Portmarnock TC and TriLimits TC.

Blackwater TC have moved into third, moving Piranha to fourth this week. The C League remains the largest, with a massive 21 clubs earning points each week.

Impressively - Blackwater TC's earned their super points haul with a three rider team! Martin Feeney (56pts) and Shane Collins (51pts) were 2nd and 3rd respectively, with David Harte (28pts) earning his points from a top 25 finish in this 68 rider category.

Analysis

The D League remains as closely contested as ever, with lots of movements at the top of the table this week. Edenderry TC and Lanesboro TC have moved from third and fourth after Round 3, to first and second this week. It couldn't be closer between the top two clubs as just one point separates them!!

Edenderry's consistent team of Priscilla Crombie (47pts), Alan Mitchell (41pts) and Jolene Craig (14pts) showed a solid points haul for a three rider team. Priscilla finished fifth overall in Watopia this week, and now moves to the top of the Women's League Table.

Lanesboro added Bobby Smith (12pts) to their three person team this week, adding to the solid results of team stalwarts Barry Hall (38pts), James Gallagher (35pts) and Catherine Hanly (25pts).

ZwiftPower's Scoring System

Zwift racing differs from what we've all come to expect from in-real-life triathlon racing.

Clubs

While the league is open to everybody, the club rankings in this race report only take Triathlon Ireland clubs in to account. If you are one of the many riders who had their club listed as 'Triathlon Ireland' you won't be included in the club rankings.

However it's simple to set your up a profile for your local triathlon club on ZwiftPower and use it for your future races.

In fact, this is something we'd urge you to do.

Gender

ZwiftPower applies points to riders according to their position in the race - regardless of gender. This isn't an ideal points solution and is something we'd like to see changed (so that women have a completely separate points allocation). However, we are working within the confines of ZwiftPower, which while imperfect is an incredibly powerful platform in other respects so bear with us.

Filtered Riders

A relatively large number of riders were 'filtered' or excluded from the results sheet for various infringements. The two most common were HR (having no heart rate data) and ZP (not having a verified power meter.

While Zwift racing is primarily about having fun, we have a responsibility to ensure that any race that carries our name is also fair so unfortunately if you were excluded or 'filtered' it is for a legitimate reason. Filtering is an automatic, data based decision by ZwiftPower designed to ensure an above board race.
