Race Update: Carlow Tri795 Triathlon *UPDATED Saturday 18th May: Following final water quality tests, water quality is at a standard to safely run the swim portion of this event. Tri795 Carlow will be staged in triathlon format tomorrow. Participants should check their email for communication from the Race Organiser.*The Carlow Tri795 Triathlon will be run in duathlon format for 2019. The race will remain as Round 1 of the BMW Triathlon National Series and all points will still be awarded. Read below from the race organisers Tri795 Triathlon Club:Cancellation of the swim leg has not been taken lightly, but the water quality results from the River Barrow do not meet the minimum standards for bathing water with the levels of bacteria in the river significantly higher than those found in previous years. Health and safety is of paramount importance to the Tri795 Race Committee and as a result we were left with no choice but to make the difficult decision to cancel the swim.Triathlon Ireland have confirmed that the race remains part of the BMW Triathlon National Series and all points will be awarded as if the event remained a triathlon. The distances for the duathlon will be as follows: 2.5km Run / 20km Bike / 5km Run. The updated race briefing will be issued to competitors on Friday, 17th May.We hope to see you on the 19th for what we hope will still be an enjoyable race day.
