Preview: International Racing this Weekend

With the domestic calendar just weeks away from the start of the 2019 triathlon season (the BMW Triathlon National Series starts on 19 May at Tri795 Carlow Triathlon), the international season is already well underway. This weekend Irish athletes will race at Bermuda, Pontevedra and Quarteira.

WTS BERMUDA

At the 2019 MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda tomorrow Saturday 27th May, Russell White will take on his fourth race of the year following a top twenty finish at the 2019 New Plymouth ITU Triathlon World Cup last month.

The standard distance race will be live on triathlonlive.tv, start time is 5.06pm Irish time.

2019 Quarteira ETU Triathlon European Cup

Tartu 2018_DDunne Run

Darren Dunne and Brian Glynn are also in action tomorrow at the Quarteria ETU Triathlon European Cup. Start time is 16.30 Irish time and the race can be followed through the event website.

Erin McConnell ETU Qaurteria 2018

In the Junior Race on Sunday, 28th May Erin McConnell and Aaron Doherty will represent Team Ireland. Triathlon Ireland Junior Athlete of the Year Erin starts at 08.45am while in the junior men's race Aaron Doherty will start at 10.30am.

2019 Pontevedra ITU Multisport World Championships

Over the next week, the multisport community will be focussed on Pontevedra, Spain for the 2019 ITU Multisport World Championships. Competition for Elite, Paratriathlon, U23 and Age Group athletes will take place across five disciplines. Full event information can be found on triathlon.org.

CWilson_Ibiza 2018

Ciara Wilson competes internationally for the first time since the 2018 Ibiza ETU Multisport Championships in October this weekend in the ITU Duathlon World Championship. Ciara has had a strong start to 2019 with three race wins in the BMW Duathlon National Series and fourth place at the National Duathlon Championships in Sligo last month. Race start for the Elite Women will be at 12.45pm Irish time tomorrow Saturday, 27 April and will be streamed live on triathlonlive.tv.

Following his recent silver at the National Duathlon Championships, Niall Cornyn races in the U23 division of the ITU Duathlon World Championship tomorrow with a race start at 10.30am Irish time.

Madeira WC

A high performance team of three paratriathletes have travelled to the championships, representing Ireland in paraduathlon. Donnacha McCarthy with guide Stephen Teeling-Lynch and Leo Hynes with guide David Tilly will race in the PTVI division. Tojo Lazzari races in the PTS4 race. Start time is from 08.00 on Sunday, 28th April. The races will be streamed live on triathlonlive.tv.

2019 Rabat ATU Triathlon African Cup

Carolyn Hayes Running Ireland Suit

Carolyn Hayes is in action on Saturday, 27 April at the Rabat ATU Triathlon African Cup in Morocco. Hayes last raced at the end of March in the Durban ATU Triathlon Premium African Cup where she topped the podium. The standard distance race starts at 09.05 Irish time.
