Family Splash and Dash at Spencer Dock!

Splash and Dash Launch Pic 1

Bringing Family Fun to Spencer Dock

This Sunday, Dublin's Spencer Dock is the extra special venue for the Waterways Ireland Family Splash and Dash!

This free-of-charge event is just three years old but has already more than quadrupled in size since it was first run by Athy Triathlon Club.

Just weeks ago, more than 100 kids and adults took part in the largest Athy Family Splash and Dash yet with thanks to the support of Waterways Ireland.

And now it's coming to Dublin!

How it works

  • Adults and kids participate on the same team in a swim-run event.
  • The kids start off with a 50m swim (for the smaller kids) or 200m swim (for the older kids) followed by an 800m run.
  • They then tag their adult team mate who swims 500m before exiting the water and running 1.5km.
  • The adult then re-joins the kid at the Tag Zone before they both cross the finish line together.

The Family Splash and Dash is non-competitive, suitable for anyone over the age of six and open to people of all abilities.

Registration is between 09:30 and 10:35 at Spencer Dock and the first kids will enter the water at 11am!

We expect the event to last 45mins in total.

It is being run jointly by Triathlon Ireland,  Activ Multisport Triathlon Club and the Dublin Sports Partnership with the support of Waterways Ireland.

The focus of the events is encouraging adults and kids to take part in physical activity together along Ireland's wide range of inland waterways.
