Inspiring Clonakilty Duo Complete First Triathlon since Transplant

Triathlon is a sport full of inspiring people, from the beginner to the elite athlete and everyone in between. This past weekend at the Centra Fastnet Schull Triathlon, we got the chance to hear the story of Fiona O'Donnell and Grainne O'Keeffe, both members of West Cork Triathlon Club.

The pair had just completed their first race since performance nutritionist Fiona received a kidney transplant from donor Grainne. Based in West Cork, the pair met when Grainne moved to Clonakilty four years ago and joined West Cork Tri Club. They started to swim together, learning front crawl and putting their faces into the water while swimming.

Fiona needed a donor as she was suffering from kidney disease and her tri-club friends put their names forward. Grainne was a match! We'll let them tell you the rest of their story in the video below...

Next up for Fiona is the IRONMAN Dun Laoghaire 70.3 in August! Best of luck to this hilarious and inspiring pair in their triathlon season.
