Gold for Nicholson at Sarasota ITU Paratriathlon World Cup Paratriathlete Andrew Nicholson has won the PTS4 category at the ITU Sarasota World Cup in Florida. The race was run in duathlon format due to poor water quality with a 1-lap 2.5km run, 3-lap 18.3km bike and 2-lap 5km run to finish. Andrew lay in third after the first run but put in his characteristically strong bike to take the lead heading into T2.Nicholson then put in the fastest five kilometre run of the day in 20.49 to hold off second placed Jiachao Wang and third placed Brice Marmonnier. Finishing the course in 1:00:10, this is his first win at World Cup level.Andrew was thrilled with a win in his first international duathlon;"Overall the race went really well, that was my first international duathlon so I just decided to set my own pace and see what happened especially considering the heat, which was brutal!Getting the win was a great bonus and I want to thank the rest of the para guys and Triathlon Ireland for all the help."Some time off is on the cards now for Nicholson before getting ready for next season;"That was my last race of the year so I'm looking forward to some time off then it's back training again for 2019."HighlightsAidan McGlynn, Donnacha McCarthy and Nicolas DeWalque were also representing Ireland in the PTS5 and PTVI categories. McCarthy and Dewalque finished fifth and 11th respectively in the PTVI category. Aidan McGlynn finished sixth in PTS5 over the sprint duathlon course.
