At a summary level there are five primary areas that TI works towards. The funds we raise through membership are substantially invested in the first four areas while High Performance primarily relies on funding from the Irish Sports Council, Sport NI and the Olympic Council of Ireland. This enables us to use the membership funds for the direct benefit of the members.
This is the office of TI and amongst other things, its role in administering membership applications, age group racing, race sanctioning, media and the ongoing support of members' queries.
TI has continuous initiatives to boost the opportunities for everyone to take part. More specifically, we are there to support the establishment of new clubs, women in sport opportunities and generally promote triathlon and other multi-discipline events.
While the clubs take the lead role in organising races, TI are there to support this function. However there are certain events (ETU/ITU age group competitions) where TI takes a more active role. TI sanctioned events carry with them an inherent mark of quality. This quality is assured by the attendance at every race by an independent Technical Official and Race Referee, both of whom are trained by TI. In addition to this a Junior National Series has been developed in order to increase junior participation.
In addition to training independent Technical Officials and Race Referees as above, another initiative largely funded by TI is the development of a coaching network throughout the country. At the moment there are insufficient qualified coaches to keep up with the growth in participation and membership numbers. While there are a number of online or private coaches available, we need to see coaches available within clubs, there to support their new and improving members and supplement the volunteer work within the club structure.
High Performance primarily relies on ring fenced funding from the Irish Sports Council, Sport NI and the Olympic Council of Ireland.
Funding by the Irish Sports Council and Sport Northern Ireland is reliant on the delivery of high performance outcomes. This involves providing a high performance training environment for our top athletes, like Aileen Morrison and Gavin Noble who both represented Ireland in the London 2012 Olympics and who will continue to compete in World Cups and World Championship Series Races. A key part of ensuring the sustainability of the high performance system is the operation of a Junior Talent Squad. This Squad is supported by the running of both Junionr National Academy and the Talent ID days, which are held to help identify and develop the next generation fo high performance athletes. The Junior Squad has proved extremely successful, with a number of athletes experiencing success in British, European and World Championships in recent years.

As a guide please refer to below when choosing your preferred membership type:
your first consideration is whether you are a club member or not as Club Members must have a min of associate membership €18 to be covered to train with club. Your next consideration is the no of races you intend to do per year. Add the cost of membership if needed to the cost of ODL's then compare total to cost of membership (which can be used for unlimited no of races) e.g:
1. Non Club Members doing 4 triathlon races or more per year will pay €60 for 4 ODL's - Full Membership is €53/ year and unlimited no of races
2. Club members - doing 3 triathlon races/ year will pay €18 (assoc. membership) + €45(ODL's) = €63 - Full membership is €53/ year and unlimited no of races
If you misplace your membership card, you will need to order a new card. To order a replacement card, please send an email administrator@triathlonireland.com immediately requesting a replacement card. There will be a 10 euro replacement fee.
At the discretion of Triathlon Ireland, refunds will be given for a valid reason, within 15 days of purchase of membership. A €5 administration and transaction fee will be charged. If you wish to cancel your membership, please send an email to administrator@triathlonireland.com and include your name, date of birth and reason for cancellation.
While you can use our system to make payments for Triathlon Ireland membership and for certain Club memberships, this does not, in itself, guarantee that your membership will be accepted by TI or by the club you apply to join. Occasionally, circumstances may arise that prevent a club or Triathlon Ireland from granting member status.
