It is illegal to begin working with junior athletes or vulnerable adults prior to being Garda Vetted or under going an Access NI check.

Garda Vetting

Who: Anyone 16 or older who is helping out with juniors or coaching juniors regularly must apply to be vetted including:
Childrens Officers
Designated Liaison Persons
Junior Coaches/TRI Leaders
Anyone regularly helping at the junior sessions or events.
Anyone intending to go on an overnight trip with juniors in the context of a club event or competition.

How: Print the following form and complete online application.

Step 1: Form: Garda Vetting E VET Invite and ID Validation Form. 
Read this form carefully and complete every section. It includes a personal details section, an application declaration section and and ID validation section.  The ID Proofing must be done in person with an individual from the list provided. This person must tick the boxes indicating which forms of ID they have seen. 

IMPORTANT: 
A passport and drivers licence do not qualify as a complete ID proof. A document from the last 6 months which proves address must be produced.

If applicant is 16-18 a parental consent form must also be completed and parent/guardian email address used for application.

Step 2: Post the Application: Copies of the identification must be posted with the completed form to: Designated Person, Triathlon Ireland, Unit E2 Glencormack Business Park, Kilmacanogue, Bray Co. Wicklow. 

Step 3: You will receive an email from An Garda Síochana to begin the online application: Once the completed form and copies of the ID have been received you will be issued an invite via email to complete and E Vet application.

Access NI

Step 1: Form: Access NI ID Validation Form.
This Form contains a PIN number specific to Triathlon Ireland.  This form must be completed in full before sending to TI along with copies of ID used in the ID Proof.

Step 2: IMPORTANT: ID Proofing: The ID Proofing must be done in person with an individual from the following list: Qualified Club Childrens Officer, PSNI officer, Doctor, Solicitor, Lawyer. 
This person must tick the boxes indicating which forms of ID they have seen.

Step 3: Online application: Follow the instructions on the form and log onto  www.nidirect.gov.uk/apply-for-an-enhanced-check-through-a-registered-body.
Complete the online application and put your application number on the ID Validation form.

Step 4: Post the Application: Copies of the identification must be posted with the completed form to: Designated Person, Triathlon Ireland, Unit E2 Glencormack Business Park, Kilmacanogue, Bray Co. Wicklow.
