Becky Woods and Conor Tiernan won the women's and men's races at Round 7 of the BMW Triathlon National Series at Two Provinces Triathlon in Lanesborough.

They were the top athletes of more than 500 that lined out for the non-drafting sprint distance triathlon, which was run immediately after the Super Series race.

See how Darren Dunne and Erin McConnell claimed victory earlier in the day.

Choppy waters and strong winds greeted the athletes lining up in three waves for the BMW National Series race at Two Provinces.

Unlike the Super Series athletes, the BMW NS competitors were allowed leave their wetsuits on but raced on the same course - albeit in a non drafting format.

First out of the water in the women’s race was Siobhan Gallagher - more than 30secs clear of her next closest rival. There was nothing to separate the top five women on the bike - all completed the 20km course within 30secs of one another. However all was to change on the run with Becky Woods covering the 5km in 19mins 13secs to move to the front of the field in a very close race.

Woods crossed the line in 1hr 10mins 6secs for victory. Thirty seconds later Esther Bayon claimed second place with a characteristically strong performance across all three disciplines. Siobhan Gallagher held on for third - coming home just 49secs after the winner.

In the men’s event the gaps were a little more distinct, with Conor Tiernan moving through the field during the 20km bike and 5km run (which he competed in 16mins 36secs) to win with a time of 1hr 2mins 37secs. Second place went to junior athlete Jack Moran with another junior, Darragh Collins in third.

Try-a-Tri and AquaBike

Also held at Two Provinces was the Try-a-Tri where Kevin Power Kelly and Louise Jones claimed first places; and the Aquabike, which saw John Wallnutt and Jennifer Shorten top their fields.
