Junior aquathon programme welcomed back to Bray seafront

Round three of the Wicklow Triathlon Club Aquathon series once again saw the addition of a full programme of junior races on the picturesque Bray Promenade in Co Wicklow.

Beautiful sunshine and four strong race waves were most welcome on a warm and calm Wednesday evening with the now customary Wicklow Tri Club hospitality laid on.

Main event sponsors The Martello Hotel and Amphibian King running shoe specialists extended their support to the junior races with post race nutrition and prizes for each of the race waves for 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14 – 15 year old competitors.

Transition boxes all primed and safety briefings out of the way it was time for racing proper which meant the public and the adult competitors preparing for their races were given a demonstration of skill and tenacity in all four race waves. Sea conditions were almost perfect with only a slight break keeping the athletes out from the beach the result being some very impressive swim times.

The spectating public were stunned to see the small figures emerge from the water. Neutralised transition was a formality for all competitors as they burst out onto the Victorian Promenade to settle final race positions. Each race wave swam and ran Triathlon Ireland age approved distances with seriously impressive performances across the programme. The future for multi sport is bright!
