Tiszy World Cup Semi Finals

It was a mixed bag of results at the Tiszaujvarous World Cup and Junior European Cup Semi Final today.

The elite men's race saw Ben Shaw and Russell White lining up in the 2nd semi final. A top 7 finish was required to progress to Sunday's final however both ended up dissapointed as they missed the cut.

Shaw had a superb swim as he emerged from the water in 4th place with White 30 seconds back. White pulled out a strong bike leg to get back into contention the duo ultimatly missed the leaders with Duchampt of France taking the win in 55:32. Shaw finished 13th in 56:28 with White 21st in 57:55.

Carolyn Hayes was off in semi final number 2 in the elite women's World Cup race. Hayes came home in 25th place in a time of 1:07:56 in her first ever race at World Cup level, just outside the top 14 who progressed to the final.

16 year old James Edgar from Lisburn put in a fantastic showing in the Junior European Cup race. Up against athletes up tp 3 years his senior Edgar exitted the water in 14th, biked well in the second pack before clocking the third fastest run of the day to finish in 7th and book his place in the final.
