The Triathlon Ireland Awards Evening is just around the corner and with that in mind there are a number of prestigious awards to be decided by you, the members! Voting for the Athlete of the Year, Junior Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year and Volunteer of the Year will be taken via the link at the bottom of this story. Read on for details.

 

ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

The Athlete of the Year award recognises the achievements of senior triathletes on the international stage during 2015. There have been a number of fantastic results and breakthrough performances this season making it a tough call.

Aileen Reid -  4th London World Triatlon Series & ​ranked 7th in the ITU World Ranking

Bryan ​Keane - ​​13th Yokohama World Triathlon Series & 5th ​Chengdu World Cup

Bryan McCrystal - Long Distance Irish Record 8:41:29 (IM Barcelona)

Carolyn​ Hayes - Winner of 3 National Titles (Sprint, Standard & Aquathlon)

Susanna Murphy - Winner of first Super Series race & international breakthrough season

JUNIOR ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

The Junior Athlete of the Year award recognises the achievements of our talented junior triathletes on the domestic and international stage during 2015. The trophy will be awarded at the Junior Awards Presentation later in the year.

Darren Dunne - 1st Male Junior National Championship - Pulse Clogherhead (2nd overall) and 1st 18-19 age group (overall 5th) Standard ​Championship​ - Dublin City Triathlon

James Edgar​ - 22nd Geneva ETU Triathlon European Championships & 1​7th Tiszaujvaros ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup

Kirsty McIlwaine - 1st Female Junior National Championship - Pulse Clogherhead ​(4th overall) & Super Series ​Athy 1st Junior (6th overall)

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

The volunteer of the year award aims to shine a light on the remarkable work of volunteers around the country by celebrating them on a national level. The awards is a unique opportunity to say 'thank you' to ordinary people doing extraordinary work across the country.

Submit a maximum of 250 words outlining the extraordinary work done by your selected volunteer.

TECHNICAL OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR

Technical Officials play a key role in the running of over 200 events nationwide. Through this award we can recognise the huge contribution made, helping to put on events which are run to the highest standards.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Coaches play such a key role in the development of athletes at all levels and their enjoyment in the sport. The coach of the year award recognises those who have made considerable contributions at a grassroots level and gone above and beyond in order to assist their athletes, clubs and squads.
