Professional Licences for non ITU Events

Ironman 70.3 Dublin Podium

Triathlon Ireland, as the National Governing Body for the sport of Triathlon, issues professional licence accreditation to members who wish to take out IRONMAN Pro Membership or race as a professional in other Non-ITU events.

Professional Licence Criteria

  1. An athlete who has represented Ireland at Elite European or World Championship triathlon as a senior.

  2. An athlete who has previously raced at ITU World Cup level subject to securing starting slot in their own right.

  3. An athlete who has placed in top 15 at World Age Group Championships within 5% of winners time (8% for Female) in 20-24, 25-29 or 30-34 age brackets, within previous 18 months.

  4. An athlete who has placed in top 8 at European Age Group Championships within 5% of winners time (8% for Female) at in 20-24, 25-29 or 30-34 age brackets, within previous 18 months.

  5. An athlete who has placed in top 15 overall in an international event with a Professional wave (top 5 where less than 10 professionals in field), within previous 18 months.

  6. An athlete who has completed a 140.6 distance event in under 9.45 ( 10.30 female) or an international 70.3 distance event in under 4.15 ( 4.40 Female), within previous 18 months.

  7. An athlete placing in top 5 at Category 1 National Standard distance Championships

  8. Athlete must hold a full race licence with TI.

Restrictions

  1. A professional athlete will not be eligible for age group prizes while holding a pro licence or for a period of 1 year from December 31st of the year of last Professional Licence.

  2. A professional athlete will not be eligible for age group selection while holding a pro licence or for a period of one year from December 31st of the year of last Professional Licence

Applications

  1. Email reception@triathlonireland.com evidencing how criteria are met.

  2. Applications will be processed within 10 working days and successful applicants will receive a letter from Triathlon Ireland identifying them as a Professional Licence holder which they can use for Challenge/Ironman etc.
